Stafford Riverway Link

Stafford Riverway Link’s terrific volunteers have once again done the project proud with a sizeable amount of concreting laid on the mooring basin floor. This work has been boosted recently by an incredible donation of thousands of pounds’ worth of cement by Breedon Group as part of its community support programme. The likelihood is that this will be sufficient to complete the whole basin floor during 2023 and also help with the construction of the bridge.

Other local companies (such as Huws & Gray, Faserbeton, Wardrop Landscapes and R&J Aggregates) have also stepped up to the plate with their support. On the environmental and grounds side, volunteers have again been creating wildflower beds, tree planting with Stafford Soroptimists and future wildflower areas by reusing soil from the basin site.

The SRL team held a very well-attended open weekend at the end of May 2022 that, apart from raising over £4,000, helped increase the project’s profile in the local area. In fact, it encouraged one of SRL’s great supporters, Titanic Brewery, to give SRL its own beer – Stafford Link – which is very nice indeed and is available in the Sun Inn in Stafford and at the Bod in Baswich.

There continues to be a lot of work behind the scenes to help raise the profile of the project and to satisfy all of the paperwork requirements to ensure that SRL can continue to press ahead. SRL has added £1,000 to its Crowdfunding appeal during 2022. SRL is really grateful for all donations.
