The River Weaver Navigation Society’s aim is to protect, improve and increase the use of the navigable river and environs.
It holds an annual regatta each September on Winsford Bottom Flash, the head of navigation. Its purpose is to encourage river usage by boaters and promote the interest of local residents.
Winsford Town Council has now invested £80,000 in improving moorings on the Bottom Flash, so making the basin highly suitable as an established rally site. Innovative proposals have been produced by the society to install an inclined plane to connect the river with the Shropshire Union Canal, and this is now also being promoted by Cheshire West & Chester Council.
Work parties and social events continue to be organised.
