The Friends of the Cromford Canal has been given about a quarter of a mile of Cromford Canal, which is at low water level with willow trees growing in the channel.

FCC working parties are intending to clear the channel and restore the water to an appropriate level after building a suitable overflow system. This will give FCC the opportunity to restore and maintain a section of canal and its towpath.

FCC continues to operate the heritage passenger boat Birdswood between Cromford Wharf and High Peak Junction. The planning application to continue restoration of the canal north of Langley Mill has been submitted and the engineers are supplying additional information as required.
